Strategic Engagement

District B Councilmember, Tarsha Jackson, enlisted the services of George E. Johnson Development, Inc. to provide a strategic and solution-oriented approach to solving some of District B’s most cumbersome social and economic challenges. The components for the study and resulting Strategic Plan for the area are listed below.

Strategies include promotion and protection of the environment to strengthen and diversify the economic base.

A sense of community relates to the whole community.  Therefore, George E. Johnson Development Inc. has created a focused plan that encourages people of the community to gather regularly.  This will enable residents and businesses to connect, build trust and maintain a sense of belonging.

The Plan is built on the strength of the area’s high visibility and traffic volumes which provide opportunities suitable for mixed-uses including commercial, office, civic, and residential.  Our strategies include seeking out a variety of incentive programs designed to make capital more available for businesses looking to expand or locate to this area.

Community input was an essential component of the Plan. Through past community meetings and studies, our team has documented the needs and desires from the community.

As part of the GEJ Development process, we have reviewed and documented existing conditions within the  community, taking into consideration any previous studies or reports for insights into the demographics, current economy, crime statistics, and more.

Funding options are key for achieving the Council office’s vision for the future. Key funding sources have been identified that can be used for residential and commercial development projects that will bring rooftops and essential services to the area.
